A cold front that tracked across Texas brought severe weather to Fayette Electric Cooperative’s service territory early Wednesday morning. Straight-line winds and lightning were the culprits that resulted in 1,085 members experiencing power outages across the area from as far south as Komensky and to the east in Ellinger and Fayetteville.

Four FEC crews along with three contractor crews worked throughout the morning to restore power to the members affected. Downed power lines and trees in lines were contributing factors in the outages.  Power was restored to the majority of the members by 1 p.m.

“The spring storms are historically strong to severe and produce damaging winds, said FEC General Manager Gary Don Nietsche. “The rain was welcomed, but it’s unfortunate that this system resulted in outages for our members.”
