MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
District Meetings
The co-op service territory is divided into seven districts. Each district is represented by one director. In defining the district, the board of directors shall bear in mind the desirability of having the directors well distributed over the Cooperative area, the size of the district, and the number of Members in the district.
For those districts where directors’ terms are due to expire in a given year, district meetings are held during May in order for Members residing in those specific districts* to select nominees to stand for election at the Annual Membership Meeting held the third Wednesday in July.
* You may contact the FEC office if you are unsure of the district number that you reside in.
Annual Meetings
Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. holds its Annual Membership Meeting on the third Wednesday in July each year. Notification of the meeting is provided to each Member by written notice in advance of the meeting date.
At the Annual Membership Meeting, nominations of Members to serve on the co-op board may be taken from the floor. The nominees for a particular seat must (1) reside in the district that seat represents and (2) be nominated by a Member who also resides within that district. It is both a privilege and a responsibility of each Member to attend the meeting and exercise his/her right to vote for the directors of their choice.
The strength of every rural electric system is its membership. You can play an important role in keeping Fayette Electric Co-op a successful, growing enterprise by being an active member-owner, and attending annual meetings.
