Fayette Electric Cooperative invites all members to attend its Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, July 16, at the KC Community Center, located at 190 South Brown Street in La Grange. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for registration, and the business meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Members who register between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. will receive a $20 energy credit and be entered for a chance to win one of many door prizes awarded during the meeting. Ewald Kubota of La Grange and Kleiber Tractor and Equipment will provide utility vehicles so FEC employees may assist members with transportation from the parking lot to the entrance.

Before the meeting, members can enjoy a variety of games, including Plinko, putt-putt golf, and a Wheel of Fortune-style game, for opportunities to win extra prizes. Children aged 10 and under will receive a prize just for attending with a parent or guardian and may register to win one of five children’s door prizes.

A special highlight of the evening is the “Luck of the Draw” Scholarship drawing. High school graduates who applied for an FEC scholarship this year but were not selected are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian. One eligible student will be randomly chosen to receive a scholarship during the meeting.

Fayette County 4-H members, leaders, and parent-volunteers will serve refreshments.

During the business portion of the meeting, members will vote on director positions. Director Joseph D. Kruppa (District 2) and Director James A. Anderle (District 5) are both up for re-election, following nominations at their district meetings in May.

After 45 years of dedicated service, Director David Lehmann will retire. Scott Schultz, nominated at the District 1 meeting held on May 5, is on the ballot to fill the vacant seat. Members may vote for any director candidate, regardless of the district in which they reside.

After 22 years of dedicated service, Director Leo C. Henke will also retire. Members in District 4 will receive a letter informing them of the board vacancy. Those interested in serving the remainder of Mr. Henke’s term will be invited to apply and participate in an interview with the board. After the interview process, the board will appoint a member to fill the unexpired term.

All members should have received the July issue of Texas Co-op Power magazine, which includes the Annual Report and a registration card. Members are encouraged to bring their registration card and door prize ticket, found on the back cover of their Annual Report, to streamline the check-in process.

Mark your calendars and join us for an evening of fellowship, fun, and cooperative business.
